TRIVIA IN LBI, TRIVIA NEAR BEACH HAVEN

Start time: Every Thursday at 7:00PM

Prizes: Winner per round (5)

Trivia Host: John

Rules and FAQs below:

  • Our game consists of 5 rounds of trivia with a winner in each round. The rounds contain 10 themed questions. Our host will ask the questions while you play the game on your cell phone by designating a Team Captain. This person will use their phone to submit your team’s answers. (You also have the option to join the game as a guest to read the questions as the game goes on.)

Categories change weekly but you can always expect rounds 1, 2, and 4 to be themed. Round 3 will always be an audio round asking to name that tune and the 5th round each week is always titled “Random Knowledge” and is a free for all of content.

  • You’ll need to enter the game code provided by your host to enter tonight’s game.

By doing so, you will enter the game lobby. You will register your team for tonight’s game by creating a team name, enter your email address, and the number of team members. Click “Join Game” to enter the game.

Only one person per group needs to do this in order to submit the answers. If other members of your team want to view the questions on their phone, simply enter the game code on their phone and click “Just Watch”. (You do not need to enter any team information to just watch.)

  • Every person in your group, at your table is considered a team member. Whether that person adds value to your team or is just here to look pretty and eat chicken fingers. The ideal team is about 4-6 players, but we set the maximum limit to 8. If there are more than 8 people in your party you will need to divide into separate teams and may not actively work together during rounds.

  • DON’T BE A DICK! We’re playing bar trivia. The prize money is only a few dollars. We all are capable of googling answers. Don’t do that. We’re here to have a good time and enjoy some food and beverages with our friends. Don’t ruin the spirit of fun by being overly competitive. It’s not that serious. Some of the questions are hard and you’re not going to get everything right. Some things you might even know and you just won’t be able to recall the information. That’s okay. What’s not okay is cheating at bar trivia for what amounts to a few bucks. You don’t have to play… we won’t be offended. If you do play just don’t be a dick and ruin the game.

BE KIND! Kindness is king, especially when it comes to our waitstaff and servers. Remember if you are here enjoying our game it’s because the restaurant paid us to be here. They do that assuming you’re going to spend a few dollars on drinks and dinner. Don’t forget to take care of your servers and bartenders. 20% is the absolute minimum you should be leaving as gratuity. Feel free to leave a few dollars on top. It’s not going to put you into financial ruin and its going to make someone’s work night a lot better.

  • Each round consists of 10 questions. The host will read the questions and you will enter your answers on the answer sheet on your phone. After the 10th question you will submit your answers for scoring. After the 10th question is read you have about 60 seconds to submit your answers before the round is locked.

  • Our scoring model is simple. If you get an answer right, your team earns a point. The team at the end of each round is the winner (because that’s how contests work). If you win a round, you earn a gift card prize. An accumulative score is also tracked, this information is simply shown for bragging rights.

You have the option to play a power up called the “Double Down”. This can be used in any round but can only be played once per game. It effectively doubles your points for the round. However, it comes with some risk. When you use your double down all of your submitted answers must be correct to earn points. If you put an answer down that is wrong, you will earn zero points for the round no matter how many questions you answered correctly. You may skip the question by leaving it blank. As long as the answer is blank this will not adversely affect your score. For example you can get 6 questions right and leave 4 answers blank; if you double down this will earn you 12 points. More than a perfect 10 with a standard submission. Using the double effectively will boost you to a round victory even when other teams may know more answers than you.

Whether you were successful or not, once you use the double down, you will no longer have the option to use it again.

  • Round 3 is not your typical Q&A round. For this round you will listen to short clips of songs. For each question there are 2 answer blocks. We’re looking for the Song Title and Artist. You will get a point for each correct submission. This round is worth 20 points! You can answer in any order and you do not need to get both items right to score points.

You may use your double down during this round and it works like any other. So if you know the song title but not the artist; you should leave one answer slot blank.
